Aston Villa have confirmed that defender Tyrone Mings has signed a new contract with the club, extending his stay at Villa Park following a season marked by resilience and recovery.
The announcement comes after Mings returned to action in November, having missed the previous campaign with a serious knee injury.
He went on to make 22 appearances across all competitions last season, re-establishing himself as a key figure in Unai Emery’s squad.
Mings, who has made over 180 appearances since joining the club and played a pivotal role in their 2019 promotion to the Premier League, expressed gratitude for the support he’s received during his recovery.
“I thank the fans, the manager, the staff and the players for their unwavering support both on and off the pitch through one of the toughest periods of my career,” Mings said. “I’m sure that next season will be our best one yet!”
Mings Reflects on Villa Journey
Reflecting on his time at the club, the England international shared his long-term vision and belief in the team’s potential.
“Every player signs for a club hoping they can contribute positively towards something successful,” he said. “My belief that we can achieve something extra special is stronger than ever.”
Club’s Reaction to the Extension
Monchi, President of Football Operations at Aston Villa, welcomed the deal, highlighting Mings’ value both on and off the pitch.
“We are very happy that Tyrone has extended his contract with Aston Villa,” Monchi stated. “We are delighted that he will continue to be a part of our journey.”
