Eastleigh FC captain Jake Taylor has officially extended his stay at the Silverlake Stadium, expressing his delight at committing to the club for another season.

The experienced midfielder says he’s determined to help lead the Spitfires to new heights in the upcoming campaign.

Taylor, who signed for Eastleigh in 2022, has grown into a vital presence both on and off the pitch.

Speaking after signing his contract extension, the skipper revealed he had “really good discussions over the last few months” and is “delighted to be here for another season.”

A Rested Mind, A Renewed Mission

After enjoying a well-earned summer break with family and time away to unwind, Taylor returns with his eyes set firmly on success.

“It’s a hectic season, so it was nice to switch off and spend some quality time at home. But now the focus is back on the football,” he said.

His decision to stay was largely influenced by Eastleigh’s current direction under the leadership of manager Richard Hill.

“Since the gaffer came in, he’s been brilliant with me. He’s building a really positive environment and a strong squad. The club is going in the right direction both on and off the pitch,” Taylor added.

Faith from the Jake Taylor as Manager

With Eastleigh’s manager now shaping the squad in his image, Taylor is proud to remain part of those plans.

“You always want to play for someone that wants you to be here,” he said. “There’s real excitement around the new signings and the players who’ve stayed.”

Lessons from Last Season Fuel Ambition

Reflecting on last season, Taylor admits the team didn’t reach the levels they had hoped.

“We put ourselves in a really good position at times, but we didn’t progress to where we wanted to. This year, we have to go one better.”

Eastleigh narrowly missed out on the playoffs last season, and the skipper is under no illusions about the task ahead.

“It’s going to be a tough season—there’ll be ups and downs—but if we stay united, we can have a really positive outcome.”

Leadership and Legacy

Looking ahead, Taylor is determined to lead by example as captain.

“I want to be a successful captain at this club. I want to get promoted. I want to help the new lads settle in and guide the younger players.”

With Taylor’s leadership and the manager’s vision aligning, there’s a renewed sense of purpose at Eastleigh FC.

“This club has the fundamentals to be a league club—and that’s what we’re aiming for,” Taylor concluded.
