Viktor Gyokeres transfer: Sporting Break Silence on Exit Clause

Viktor Gyokeres Transfer Twist: Sporting Deny £59m Exit Deal Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas has confirmed the club has not received any offers for star striker Viktor Gyokeres — and denied claims of a “gentleman’s agreement” allowing a cut-price move this summer.

The revelation comes amid heavy transfer links connecting the 27-year-old Sweden international to Manchester United and Arsenal, following a sensational scoring record in Portugal.

No Offers, No Promises

Despite media reports of a pre-agreed exit fee of €70m (£59m), Varandas was clear:

Sporting has not had an offer for Gyokeres — neither today nor last season.

He added:

Viktor Gyokeres will not leave for €60m plus €10m. I never promised that.

Gyokeres Transfer: The Real Agreement

According to Varandas, the only assurance given to Gyokeres and his representatives was that Sporting would not enforce his €100m (£85m) release clause.

“The agent asked whether we would demand the termination clause,” Varandas explained.
I said I wouldn’t — because no 27-year-old leaves Portugal for €100m.

However, he refused to anchor the exit price, citing future uncertainty:

“I said: ‘I don’t know if it’ll be €40m, €60m, or €80m. But I won’t demand €100m.’”

Gyokeres’ Journey So Far

Gyokeres joined Sporting from Coventry City, where he had impressed over three seasons in the Championship.

Under manager Ruben Amorim, the Swede exploded into one of Europe’s top scorers, netting 97 goals in 102 games for the Portuguese giants.

Interest from Premier League Giants

With Manchester United and Arsenal both reportedly circling, speculation surged that Sporting had agreed to part ways this summer.

But with no concrete bids on the table, and no fixed exit fee, the future of Viktor Gyokeres remains wide open — and very much in Sporting’s control.

What This Means

Sporting’s public stance signals a strong negotiating position ahead of a potentially heated summer window.

Unless a club meets the valuation — whatever that may be — Gyokeres isn’t going anywhere just yet.
